Study of Q-factor Estimation Model Based on Multi-Physical Impairments in Transparent Optical Networks

چکیده
Optical networks are in the evolution of transparent architectures, the effects of the physical layer impairments are becoming more and more prominent. This paper setting out from multiple physical impairments, analyzes the effects as well as the diversity and complexity of the physical layer impairments in optical networks, investigates the issue of the current-related physical layer impairments estimation models which only consider a simple impairment, and at last, proposes a physical layer impairments estimation model considering multiple physical impairments based on the Q-factor. The results show that this model can be more accurate in estimating the state of physical layer impairments in the lightpath and make the physical layer impairments routing and wavelength assignment (PLI-RWA ) algorithm more effective to avoid the effects of the physical layer impairments in routing.

A Novel Protection Guaranteed, Quality of Transmission Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for All-optical Networks
Transparent All Optical Networks carry huge traffic and any link failure can cause the loss of gigabits of data; hence protection and its guarantee becomes necessary at the time of failure. Many protection schemes were presented in the literature, but none of them speaks about protection guarantee. Also, in all optical networks, due to absence of regeneration capabilities, the physical layer i...
متن کاملCross-Layer Optimization Issues for Realizing Transparent Mesh Optical Networks
In transparent optical networks as the signal propagates through a transparent network it experiences the impact of a variety of quality degrading phenomena that are introduced by different types of signal distortions. In this chapter we present a new optical networking paradigm for mesh topology, in which the impact of physical layer impairments are considered in lightpath routing (routing and...

متن کاملCentralized vs. Distributed Approaches for Encompassing Physical Impairments in Transparent Optical Networks
Transparent optical mesh networks are an appealing solution to provide cost-effective high bandwidth connections eliminating the need of expensive intermediate electronic regenerators. However, the implementation of transparent optical networks requires to take into account physical impairment information for effective lightpath set-up. In this paper, we present two distributed solutions to enc...
